This is a beautiful park complete with palm trees, wide streets, lots of open areas, and sites that are roomy. The sites have good concrete pads, some of which have a separate section for parking your tow vehicle alongside your RV.
The community center is spacious, bright, and new, with good furnishings and a well planned design. The pool sits at the back of the center. It is a little on the small side but is very appealing and the pool-side furniture is nice.
The rental sites are spacious with well designed hook-up stations. Some are pull throughs, some are back ins. Monthly rates as of this writing are $435 to $445.
Grassy lawns surround most sites with well placed live oak and palm trees spaced throughout the park Standard 30/50 amp electric, ( metered electric at .15 kwh), water and sewer are part of the hookups. Cable and wifi (gtech) are available for separate fees.
There are separate sections for lot owners and winter Texan rental sites. The owners of the purchased sites have designed their sites to suit their purposes. There appears to be considerable latitude in site landscaping, separate buildings and layouts.
A few have completely covered RV ports with full hook-ups built into the ports. Some have chosen to leave the site open with nice landscapes and outside furniture. The lots for purchase are deeded lots. Purchase prices are in the $50,000 to $75,000 range.
A walking trail around the lake provides a nice scenic place for getting in your exercise.
The park is located within 5 minutes of shopping, food stores, restaurants, etc. (5 minutes to Walmart). Corpus Christie is less than half an hour away. A great fishing pier is less than 15 minutes away. Aransas Pass sits on the same side of the intercoastal waterway. Port Aransas and Mustang Island are a short drive away via a very efficient ferry.
Southern Oaks Luxury RV Resort seems to be a great place to spend a winter. The mild Texas temperatures would be a balm to a snowbirds bones.
We understand that this winter 2015-2016 has been a little unusual (We have only had one brief light shower in the first 6 weeks). A little more rain is the norm. Snow and ice in this area are extremely rare.
