Favorite Campgrounds

A list of favorite campgrounds takes time to develop. To actually form a favorite, you really have to visit it. Since we have only been full-timers for a relatively short time, we simply have not been around enough to have chosen a lot of favorite RV resorts or campgrounds. And of course, the more places you visit, the harder it is to choose favorites.

Cedar Key RV Resort

One of our favorites, that is likely to remain high on the list for a very long time, is Cedar Key RV Resort. (see more) Beautiful landscaping, well thought out design, and natural pleasant surroundings, make the resort a “place to come home to” over and over again. Add to that the wonderful people who quickly became our friends, and it becomes special.

Cullman Campground

Another is Cullman Campground, 220 County Road 1185, Cullman, Alabama, because it is where we started our fulltime experience, and the people there are like family. (more)

St George Island

The St George Island State Park campground was our introduction to Florida.  The miles and miles of undisturbed beaches, naturally situated sites, with good facilities were a great introduction for us.  Situated between the Gulf of Mexico on one side, and the Apalachicola Bay on the other, each within a short walk of our campsite we had a week of camping that was memorable. Twin Fountains

Twin Fountains RV Park

Conveniently located between Oklahoma City and Edmond, the Twin Fountains RV Park is a pleasant place to live for awhile. Good full hookups with cable TV, adaquate WiFi, and numerous ammenities, make this somewhat higher end park an Oklahoma City favorite. (more)

Most of the sites sit along a hillside overlooking the office/clubhouse. Care has been taken to make a good level 40′ concrete pad for your RV on each site.

Blue Lake Rv Resort

Never having done any Idaho camping, we were looking forward to visiting the state, and checking out some of it’s campgrounds. We had heard quite a lot about Northern Idaho, with it’s beautiful scenary, so we headed that way.

We decided to stop for a month in the area, giving us time to check out the sights, and also look over some of the campgrounds and resorts. We settled on Blue Lake RV Resort at Naples, ID.

The moment we were escorted to our site, we knew we had made a good choice. Our site was on a back corner of the park. It was nice and open, very large, and level, with a cattle pasture on one side, leading to nice views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Our fire ring was placed along-side the pasture.

More Favorites as we find them

As we find more and more favorites, we will write about them here.

For now, we would like to ask you, our readers, to tell us about some of yours. If you are a seasoned snowbird, a fulltime wanderer, or just someone who loves camping, and you have a  favorite resort or campground, we would like to hear about it. Just tell us a little about the location, the amenities, the setting, the owners, the surroundings or anything else you find special about it.  If we like the way you describe it, we will include it here, and we will be sure to give you credit for your brilliant opinions.

Below you will find a form that you can use to tell us about your favorite campground. Don’t be shy. This is your chance to write about something you really like. And don’t worry. If you accidently say something stupid or inappropriate, we will “dress it up a little” before we include it on the website for all the world to see. (But don’t think about that….just write) Our readers will thank you.
