We decided to go for broke. We sold our home. We sold most of our possessions. We had an Estate Sale. We downsized from 5000 sq feet to less than 500. Did it hurt? Just for a few minutes. Really !
We bought a 40′ Tiffin Phaeton (diesel pusher) motorhome with 4 slides. After living in it for a couple of years, we can’t imagine living anywhere else. Or I should say, we can’t imagine living any other way. Living somewhere else is part of the adventure. So what’s it like to live this way?
You get to stay long enough to get to know an area. Stay a day, a week or maybe months. Then drive 200-300 miles, maybe further, maybe less, to your new location. Your home is where you park it. You will still be at home when you get there! There’s no more packing for a trip. You have everything with you, and it’s always right where you left it.
We now have more time for cooking, hobbies, photography, computer stuff, quilting, embroidery, and other fun things that have become our lifestyle. With no weekly duties (like grass cutting and yard work) to do, we find that we really look forward to driving up to our RV and being “at home”. We have never once felt deprived over giving up most of our “stuff” and moving into our RV.
And housekeeping” …. done in a snap!
