Meet Maxine Ramey, owner of this creative sewing center and quilt shop in Franklin, NC. She is cutting some yardage for me – two flannels that are perfect for a project I am planning. I was excited to find a nice selection of flannels in her shop – something many shops do not carry.
Maxine’s daughter Bonnie Christine designs fabrics for Art Gallery Fabrics out of Miami. This adorable line is called “Hello Bear”, named after her firstborn, a son named Bear!
These dainty fabrics are from a collection called “Hello Ollie”. Bonnie and hubby have a new baby daughter. You guessed it, the baby’s name is Ollie! Imagine being able to design fabric collections with your little ones in mind.
Loved this little mini quilt from 30’s prints displayed on an antique table.
I grew up with a wash tub like the one in the picture. But the fabrics in it were being rinsed after washing rather than being neatly rolled on bolts! Nice display idea. The shelves behind hold a selection of solids.
Thirties prints, toweling, beautiful quilt samples, lovely antique enamel topped table and antique machines. Lots to take in.
Maxine’s shop has many lovely quilt samples, many stitched by her daughter Bonnie. I loved this sampler quilt displayed above a selection of batiks.
More fabrics and great samples, a beautiful old machine and a modern machine. The shop is a representative for Handi Quilter and Baby Lock machines and also Koala sewing cabinets.
A Stitch In Time has lots to offer. Fabric lines include Art Gallery, Moda, Northcott, RJR, Red Rooster, South Seas, Benartex, Westminster, Free Spirit and many others. You will find Amy Butler, Kaffe Fassett, batiks, and 30’s prints along with plenty of traditional fabrics. The shop’s specialty is quilt kits for you kit lovers. There are quilting and sewing classes for both adults and children. Smocking supplies, heirloom fabrics, punch needle embroidery and felted wool are also available.
The shop was a featured shop in Quilt Sampler Magazine in 2010. Franklin, NC is located in the south western corner of North Carolina along Highway 441 north from Georgia or west from Asheville, NC.
